My Top 3 Keto Low Carb Protein Bars
The Best Protein Bars To Have When You Want To Maintain Muscles or Lose Weight and Still Be Low Carb and/or Keto.
1. Costco Keto Low Carb Protein Bars
One of my favorite things about Costco is they are on top of all leading trends and fashions, so if you are looking for a low carb protein bar, it's pretty much certain Costco has one, and not only that, but it has the best specs for keto and low carb diets.
The high fiber content is one of the key elements of the Costco Protein bars, because it negates the carbs in the bar to create a «3g net carbs» bar you can enjoy at home or on the run. Looking at the nutritional label, you'll see some strong features, such as balanced sodium and potassium (170/180) which you need to watch when you are on a keto / low carb diet.
The other thing I really like is the magnesium level – it's a little known fact that magnesium is essential to brain function and heart function, so getting some magnesium is a very good thing.
They also use the sweetener erythritol, which all keto dieters know is a strong antioxidant that can be used on low carb diets. With lots of fiber, the 23g of carbs gets reduced to a mere net 4 grams of carbohydrates.
The package above is the chocolate brownie flavor, one of the two types you get in a Costco box. Gluten free, of course. 4 grams net carbs per bar.
Tasty as all get out, although my daughter, a lover of chocolate, found these and only got half way through it before asking «what's in this?». Whey protein is the answer, which gives it the complete 21 grams of protein in each bar. These bars go great with keto ice cream.
Costco Keto Protein Bar Ingredient List
One of the signs of a quality protein bar is the ingredient list. Look for sweeteners like erythritol, wholesome ingredients like milk and cashews, whey protein, and healthy additives like natural flavors and natural butter.
Why Low Carb Protein Bars?
Protein bars are a favorite of athletes and weight lifters alike.
Following new nutritional discoveries, we no longer consider protein bars the domain of bodybuilders and body shapers, but now they are considered good for health.
Protein bars are also helpful when you are on the run – at work, or hiking, and getting fatigued or low on energy. A good protein bar can help re-energize you when you need it.
There is also growing evidence that the amino acids that make up protein can be transformed by the body to make many other needed items, like neurotransmitters in the brain, glucose for the blood supply, and much much more.
A Note About Artificial Sweeteners
It should be noted that a number of «artificial» sweeteners are used in the keto low carb protein bars, and I'd like to clarify a few important points
- Some artificial sweeteners are very healthy for you. In particular, the distilled erythritol is in the science publications showing it not only has no digestible carbohydrate content, but acts as a powerful anti-oxidant that can provide you with health benefits as well as a reduction in carbohydrates.
- Some artificial sweeteners are either unsafe or not proven to be safe for you. This includes the older sweeteners such as aspartame. You can look for «memory loss and aspartame» to learn more.
2. Quest Low Carb Protein Bars
Quest is a perennial favorite of all keto people, as they are a perfect match to the needs of someone entering or maintaining ketosis.
It is the reason we giggle when when mention Quest bars in our start a keto diet beginners video, one of our topped viewed videos.
Another well-loved fact about Quest bars is the variety on flavors you can find and all have low carb specs.

With whey protein, cocoa butter, erythritol and some stevia, we know these bars are made from quality ingredients, and given they are a favorite among almost all keto fans, you know they are doing a good job to keep people feeling good and looking great.
Quest Bars Nutritional Facts
Looking at the nutrition label above, we see Quest bars in general have about 30 grams of carbohydrates, where 4 grams is erythritol (not digested, not carbs you count), and 10 grams are dietary fiber, leaving just 13 grams of sugars. Doing the net carb calculation of carbs minus fiber, we see Quest bars are a low 3 grams of carbohydrates. 3. PerfectKeto 10G Keto Protein Bars
A rising favorite among keto fans is the PerfectKeto Protein Bars line of products. They rank only #3 on our list since you need two of these bars to match the protein bars that rank higher.
As you see by their highlights above, you get just 3 grams of net carbs in each of these bars, with 10 grams of protein in the new high-tech collagen protein from grass fed cows (the best protein as of this writing). They also include 19 grams of «quality fat» (no trans fats), so there's lots of calories to keep you going for a long time. For those bodybuilding folks, you may wish to consider the quest or Costco bars to handle your needs.
Looking at the Perfect Keto nutritional facts, we see no «sugar alcohols», which is interesting (since some sugar alcohols are proving to have health benefits). There is no cholesterol in these bars, so that's good.
To get the net carbs count, you need to subtract the fiber (in grams) from the total carb count, and with 12 grams carbs and 9 grams fiber, we are left with just 3 grams net carbs, giving these bars a 5-star rating.
